Total knee arthroplasty and posterior tibial slope

چکیده
Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) has been considered as a standard procedure for intractable pain in the end-stage degenerative arthritis of the knee and maintaining range of motion (ROM) to facilitate the ability to perform daily living activities. 1 Factors that have been associated with the change in ROM after TKA include preoperative ROM, implant design, patient characteristics, posterior femoral condylar offset, intraoperative soft tissue balancing, and Posterior Tibial Slope (PTS). 2-7

Measurement of Posterior Tibial Slope Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Background: Posterior tibial slope (PTS) is an important factor in the knee joint biomechanics and one of the bone features, which leads to knee joint stability. Posterior tibial slope affects flexion gap, knee joint stability and posterior femoral rollback that are related to wide range of knee motion. During high tibial osteotomy and total knee arthroplasty (TKA) surgery, proper retaining the...
متن کاملEffect of Posterior Femoral Condylar Offset and Posterior Tibial Slope on Maximal Flexion Angle of the Knee in Posterior Cruciate Ligament Sacrificing Total Knee Arthroplasty
PURPOSE To evaluate the effect of femoral condylar offset and posterior tibial slope on maximal flexion angle of the knee in posterior cruciate ligament (PCL)-sacrificing total knee arthroplasty (TKA, Medial-Pivot Knee System). MATERIALS AND METHODS Forty-five knees in 35 patients who could be followed up more than 1 year after PCL-sacrificing TKA were evaluated retrospectively. We measured a...
متن کاملThe Correlation between Posterior Tibial Slope and Maximal Angle of Flexion after Total Knee Arthroplasty
PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to evaluate the correlation between the posterior tibial slope and the maximal angle of flexion after total knee arthroplasty. MATERIALS AND METHODS Seventy nine cases (63 patients, 60 females and 3 males), which received total knee arthroplasty with the Nexgen LPS system from Jan 2001 to Jan 2004, were enrolled. We divided all cases into two subsets in t...
متن کاملPosterior Slope of the Tibia Plateau in Malaysian Patients Undergoing Total Knee Replacement
The posterior slope of the tibial plateau is an important feature to preserve during knee replacement. The correct slope aids in the amount of flexion and determines if the knee will be loose on flexion. This is a study on the posterior tibial plateau slope based on preoperative and postoperative radiographs of 100 consecutive patients who had total knee replacements. The average posterior slop...
متن کاملThe Effect of Tibial Posterior Slope on Contact Force and Ligaments Stresses in Posterior-Stabilized Total Knee Arthroplasty-Explicit Finite Element Analysis
PURPOSE The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of change in tibial posterior slope on contact force and ligament stress using finite element analysis. MATERIALS AND METHODS A 3-dimensional finite element model for total knee arthroplasty was developed by using a computed tomography scan. For validation, the tibial translations were compared with previous studies. The finite eleme...
متن کاملNumerical Simulations of 3D Model of Knee-prosthesis Assembly with Antero-posterior Tibial Slope
In this paper, starting from the virtual model of the human knee joint, and existent knee prosthesis, often used in total knee arthroplasty, we developed 3D models of all prosthetic components. The study investigates the effects of antero-posterior tibial slope on contact stresses in all components of total knee prosthesis using finite element analysis. Using AnsysWorkbench15.07 software, the s...
